The design is cool, but I really like the lighting and how it almost looks as though aboard a carrier.

Well thanks to everyone's comments. It's odd though because I really never saw that my Raptor was my best design or this image my best render. I always felt they were just "generic" attack craft. There was nothing really original about the concept, but that being said I'm still flattered so thanks!

Your best picture so far. These raptors are terrific ! I can't believe this is Sketchup work! The details and the curves are gorgeous ! :P
And too, super cool that you rendered that on Kerkythea ! That's a great example of the power of this render. Please share that on the Kerkythea group ! ;) [link]

Actually, the pads on the bottom of the skids are a special system that when charged with an electrical current they create a "mag-lev" reaction and repel the metal embedded deck of the landing platform lifting the Raptor about an inch into the air. The deck crew need only push the aircraft into the hanger. Wheeled skid dollys are used in the field when necessary.

I've had a couple people ask me about the men in the image. They are not standing in front of the Aircraft. The Raptor is about the size of an AH-64 Apache. The two flight deck crew are standing way in the back of the scene near the edge of the landing platform well behind both Raptors.

Very spectacular. They remind me of the bumblebees

Great work. I like the little story of the figures in the image that also show off the scale.

Not sure if you misread the size of the men. But they are standing way back in the scene on the far edge of the landing platform. The Raptor is about the size of an Apache Attack Helicopter.

Quite impressive work this is =) Who said SketchUp can't be used for HQ modeling?

Sketchup is pretty under-rated in that regard. In the right hands it can create models every bit as good as what folks make in Max, LW, C4D, Rhino etc...It can be a frustrating program at times though. But for free you can't beat it.

'Sketchup is pretty under-rated in that regard'

It most certainly is. I'm using it for over half a year now, and I think I'm getting the hang of it, but still I'm lacking the time and maybe the patience for creating a complex models such as yours. Wish you luck with your future works =)

difficult to believe this was made in sketchup, partly because the model is so good but also the textures. Very nice job (i do believe you made it in sketchup tho)

Texturing in SU is easier then you might think. It just takes A LOT of time and a good helping of OCD to do right.

Yea, whenever i decide to texture my models it takes quite a while, so now i've just decided to make them detailed enough where they look ok with a flat material =D
